What have we been up to?

The last 2 weeks we have been busy learning new procedures and rules for the Art classroom as well as diving into a few creative challenges.

Day 1: we created 3d name tags so we could all get to know each others names. Check them out!:

Day 2: Students were given a visual poetry project. The idea was to read a poem and try and create a visual in their head from reading the poem, then translate that onto paper! This is definitely a way to use problem solving and figure out how to represent what you are envisioning. (One of the hardest things for an artist to do) I would say the kids did a great job. Here are a few examples:

Oh Captain! My Captain! Walt Whitman

                  RICHARD CORY : EDWIN ROBINSON

DREAMS: LANGSTON HUGHES

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Took my Dog: Emily Dickenson

Welcome back!

Parents: Open House is September the 9th at 5:30
Hope to see you there!
